Ember finished curling her lengthy blonde hair and put down her iron after unplugging it to let it cool. She stared at herself in the mirror before deciding she looked good enough for now. She grabbed the clothes she had stripped off to shower along with her iron and bag of other toiletries before leaving the bathroom. She walked back to her dorm in nothing but her towel, not at all caring who else was looking at her. She got a wolf whistle instead of simple staring when she was nearly back to her dorm but simply decided to flip off the young man, which she did without hesitation. She was used to this kind of attention; she worked as a stripper after all. You had to understand that Ember loved herself and had an ego through the roof. No one could ever tell her she wasn’t good enough. She had learned long ago that she had to just brush off what others thought about her and live her life exactly how she wanted to. Okay, so maybe she wouldn’t picture herself as a dancer if she had the choice, but she needed the money and she knew it was a skill of hers. One of these days, though, she would get herself out of it. Her IQ was also through the roof. She had always been at the top of her class and still was as she went through college. She was simply smart and one of these days everyone would know that about her instead of the fact that she was a beautiful girl.

Finally getting back into her room Ember was relieved to see that her roommate wasn’t there. The two of them had never gotten along very well, what could she say? Quickly she changed into the clothes she would be wearing to work later that night, a bit of a naughty-school girl outfit if you wanted to put it that way. The skirt itself hardly went to the bottom of her thumb when she allowed her hands to hang down by her side, but it wasn’t like that would bother her at all. The shirt she was wearing would, of course, be tied up so he was right under her breasts before she started working but for now she let it hang down, a bit of her stomach still visible but she shrugged it off. She put on her makeup and a necklace and bracelet before finally pulling on a pair of black, three inch heels. With that she checked herself in the mirror one last time before grabbing her purse and leaving the room, checking to make sure her dorm key was in fact in her purse.

She made her way down the multiple levels of stairs, her heels clicking with every step she took. Yeah, it was still early for her to go to work, she worked late that night, but she had plans to meet a few friends at Ice House before she left. One of her friends was turning twenty-one that night so of course she had to be there and make sure everything was going well. Now, Ember had never had her own car, her family didn’t have the money for that, but she wasn’t too proud to ride the bus. In fact, it didn’t bother her at all. So she didn’t have money, the only people who cared didn’t matter at all in her opinion. She got into the bus when it pulled up to the stop. She sat up front and talked with the bus driver, the woman and Ember were pretty good friends by now.

It didn’t take long before the bus pulled up to a corner about two blocks away from Ice House. “This is perfect, Steph,” Ember said, as she stood up to leave. She waved goodbye before she started to walk towards the club. She had gone about a block before a car drifted by, nearly hitting her in the cross walk. She had to jump back to avoid being hit and then fell backwards. She glared after the car, muttering something along the lines of idiot under her breath. She stood back up, examining her hands as best she could to see the scratches. Her eyes rolled to the top of her head before finally starting on her way again. She just didn’t understand some people.

It took her a little while longer to get in the club, which she had no problem doing. She glanced around for a second before deciding that they weren’t there yet and would wait for them at the bar. She made as if to weave her way through the sweaty bodies on the dances floor but before she got very far felt someone firmly press against her back. “What the fuck? Back off!” she stepped forward quickly and twisted her back to glare at him, but it didn’t seem as if he could take no as an answer. He came up behind her again, saying something Ember couldn’t hear over the pounding music. “I said off!” she struggled for a second as this time he wrapped an arm around her waist, but wasn’t going to play this game for long. Without taking much time to thin about what she was doing she stomped the heel of her shoe into the toe of the man, who he could hear yelp and push her off. She stumbled for a second before regaining her balance. She turned back to him, gave a playful wink before turning and walking away.

Ember didn’t get more than five steps before she felt something push her forward again. To this day she doesn’t know what that something was, probably just some drunk who lost their balance, but they pushed her into a man with dark, shaggy hair. Her eyes widened and she quickly took a couple steps backward to get out of the man’s space. Before anything came out of her mouth she looked him over. He was tall, really tall, and muscular and around her age if she had to guess. She had to admit, he didn’t look to bad. “I’m so sorry,” she quickly said, her high voice yelled over the music to make sure he could hear what she had to say. “I didn’t mean to, I was pushed. I didn’t hurt you, did I?” Really, Ember was a nice person and she did feel bad. After all, if her heel caught his to she did know how bad it could hurt.
